Sinterklaas arrives in Amsterdam
Sinterklaas is traditionally celebrated in The Netherlands with two weeks of rituals of exchanging small gifts and surprises with friends and family. Sint and his Piets scale down the chimneys (& even through a locked door) to leave small trinkets, giant chocolate letters in the shape of an S, peppernoten and snoepjes in the children's shoes.
The celebrations culminate on 5 December AKA Pakjesavond when extended families gather to share their homemade poems and surprises they've created for one another. It is a fun and memorable time of year to be in the city, so come join us for a day of fun-filled day!
Here are the minute-by-minute expected arrival times around the city.
More about the full event can be found here.
We will meet at the corner of Weteringschans and Reguliersgracht. Look for the AWCA signs!
