The AWCA is a women’s club based in Amsterdam with some 300 members. Many are new to the Netherlands; others have been here for more than 20 years.
We like to think of ourselves as “international Americans” who embrace life abroad while staying true to our American roots.
Becoming involved in the AWCA doesn't mean turning a cold shoulder to the Dutch people or their culture. On the contrary: we foster a fun, friendly and supportive environment in which to experience this wonderful country together.
We focus primarily on:
Embracing the Dutch experience while honoring our American traditions
Providing opportunities for community involvement and philanthropy
Enjoying cultural, educational, sport and family activities
Supporting one another and building lifelong friendships
Networking with other professionals in the community
All members of the AWCA enjoy membership to FAWCO. The AWCA has been a proud member of the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas since 1971. For more information, please visit their website or contact your friendly FAWCO Rep.
Our General Meetings are typically held on the first Monday of each month (September-June) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the heart of Amsterdam. The first hour is social; the official meeting begins at 11 a.m. with club announcements followed by a top-level speaker. Afterward many us meet for lunch.
The evening version of our General Meetings, “At Night” meetings offer the same great elements as our daytime meetings: club business, great company and interesting speakers. “At Night” meetings are typically held the second Tuesday of the month starting at 6:30 p.m.
