Join us to discuss The Book Club for Troublesome Women, a Novel by Marie Bostwick, Historical Fiction/Women’s Fiction, (2025  - 372 pages)

Book summary:

A 1960s historical fiction novel about four suburban housewives in Virginia who form a book club. Nicknaming themselves "The Bettys" after Betty Friedan, their reading of The Feminine Mystique sparks personal awakenings, career ambitions, and a lifelong sisterhood.

The women—Margaret, Viv, Bitsy, and Charlotte—bond over their shared struggles with post-war conformity and societal expectations. As they navigate restrictive gender roles and secret ambitions, their impromptu book discussions become the glue that helps them support each other through major life changes.
