Day and Evening Monthly Meetings
Daytime AWCA General Meetings are typically held on the first Monday of each month from September through June at 10 a.m. in the heart of Amsterdam. The first hour is socializing. The meeting begins at 11 a.m and includes club announcements and a speaker.
If you would like more information on our General Meetings, please contact email@example.com.
The evening version of our General Meetings, AWCA At Night is more intimate, but also includes interesting speakers and time to socialize! At Night meetings are typically held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
For more information, please contact our At Night coordinator at awcatnight @awca.nl.
As a main pillar of the AWCA, philanthropy is an important element within our organization. Over the years we have supported various projects including the Blijf Groep, an organization and shelter system whose objective is to prevent and stop domestic violence; the Leefkringhuis, a grass roots project in North Amsterdam that provides shelter for youth and assistance in various forms to their parents; and De Kloof, a homeless day shelter.
As part of a global organization, we participate with other FAWCO (Federation of Women's Clubs Overseas) Clubs to spread awareness and raise funds for the FAWCO Target Program. The newly launched FAWCO Target Program focuses on a sustainable investment supporting women's and girls' education.
We welcome our members contributions of time, ideas and energy to the programs and charities our club supports and assistance to the community around us in Amsterdam.
AWCA membership has its benefits! And we love our Benefit Partners! BP's are the wonderful organizations around Amsterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht, and 't Gooi that offer AWCA members discounts on their many goods or services. These deals are for members only! Members who would like to see our member benefits page will need to log in.
Avid readers abound in the AWCA with book clubs, in various shapes and sizes, appearing in all of our areas, including an evening Book Club in the Haarlem area and a morning Book Group in Amsterdam. These groups are for those who love reading and the scintillating discussion that a book can evoke.
The Excursions Chair gets us moving! She plans a monthly tour somewhere in the Netherlands, allowing both newcomers and long time members a chance to see corners of the country we may not know. Even if we know the spot, the trip is much more fun in a group. Some recent tours have included Palace Het Loo, Naarden Vesting, the Zuiderzee Museum, and Delft, but there are still so very many places to see.
The AWCA is a member of the Federation of American Women’s Club’s Overseas. FAWCO is an international network of 76 clubs worldwide, with a combined membership of about 16,000. It is a U.N. accredited N.G.O. with special consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the U.N., active in many crucial global issues.
As a member of the AWCA, you are automatically a member of FAWCO and can benefit from their expertise, get directly involved in their numerous programs and charities, and attend their regional and international conferences.
